Description

Antigua is a valley ringed by three volcanoes, known for its mineral-rich volcanic soil, sunny days and cool nights. Our producer partner is a shaded farm on the slopes of Volcán de Agua, where Bourbon and Caturra grow under gravilea trees. Cherries are hand-picked, pulped and fermented the same day and dried on sunlit patios.

The cup is a classic Antigua: cocoa and toffee sweetness, a light, bright touch of orange zest and, behind it, the faint smoky trace the volcanic soil is known for. Neither too bright nor too heavy; balanced enough to drink at any hour.

We roast it medium and tune the profile specifically for sweetness. One of the coffees we brew most often at the roastery for a plain cup after a meal.

Brew tips

A versatile coffee. Clean and sweet in a Chemex at 1:16; more intense in an AeroPress at 1:14. Use 1:15 for a batch brewer.
